This project was taken up under class work for the course " Invisible Cities " in my first year of college. We also read the book by Italo Calvino. The motive was to discover the city of Bangalore through our own unique lenses. Hence, it was the search for a city. These are a few pages from the book.
This book is divided into three parts. The visible i.e. the bricks, the inisible i.e. the laces and finding...

The invisible is what makes the visible seen. The bricks are the most visible part of any city and the laces like many other things are what inter twine the stories of the city amongst eachother. Together, they make the city come alive.
The Prologue
Part 1: The search for the bricks ( the visible part )

In this section, I have created a photo narrative on the process of how bricks are made. It is quite a mechanical process.
Personification of bricks and their importance
The first page of the narrative.

The mason takes off her slippers in preparation of beginning the process.
The map of the city whoch shows how one site has connections throughout the city to achieve labour and necessary ingredients for brick making. This is the site I worked at for a few days.
Part 2: The search fro the laces now begins. This captures more personal life stories and views from the people I found in a variety of places I visited.
Personification of laces and its importance
The places marked on the map are what I visited in search of laces through out the city. It also combines my journey and my story in the cities stories.
A conversation between a uncle I met and me. The second part of the book is replete with such conversations and stories.
Part 3: Finding the city from my search
